Run your fund on software, not spreadsheets.
Your investors get a portal. You get a live view.
A short, no-obligation conversation about whether launching a fund is the right route for you, and what it would take. We can cover structure, timescales, cost and regulatory requirements. Nothing to prepare in advance.
Boyd Carson co-founded Sapphire in 2009 and has since helped launch more than 50 UK venture funds. He is an Honorary Professor of Venture Capital, teaches on Harvard University's graduate venture capital course, and holds Sapphire's FCA compliance oversight role.
What you get
Digital onboarding with built-in identity checks.
A general ledger that reconciles itself.
An investor portal, not an inbox.
S/EIS certificates and tax reports, generated, not typed.
No implementation. No IT project.
Everything in one system.
1 investor onboarding
Investors subscribe digitally, with identity and anti-money laundering checks, tax declarations and e-signing built into the flow rather than chased afterwards by email.
Investor classification and eligibility are captured as part of the process, with an audit trail behind each step. No sixty-page subscription deed, no printing, no posting.
“Our investors can access everything they need through one slick, intuitive platform, which improves their experience and saves us countless hours of administration.”
Ben Ashworth, Side by Side
2 Fund Accounting
Double-entry bookkeeping across every fund transaction, multi-currency, with bank feeds reconciling automatically and a general ledger you can look into at any time.
Deal allocations, fee calculations, equalisation and waterfalls are handled by the system rather than by a spreadsheet somebody built four years ago and nobody now understands.
For SEIS and EIS funds, the system generates S/EIS1 data sheets, populates S/EIS3 forms and produces a personalised annual tax report for each investor.
3 Investor Portal
Your investors see their holdings, what they cost, what they are worth now, and how the fund is performing on a portal branded for your firm rather than for the platform.
Statements, deployment updates, reports and their annual tax report reach them without anyone chasing anyone, which is the part that quietly decides whether they come back for your next fund.
Our administration runs on Further, a specialist fund administration platform. The platform is charged separately, at rates we have negotiated for our clients. Further's founders co-own Emerald Fund Services with three of Sapphire's partners.
“Sapphire has been the cornerstone of our investment operations." Mark Pearson, Fuel Ventures
property funds
Set up a property fund with Sapphire. Sapphire will collaborate with you in setting up the traditional "LP/GP" structure for a property fund. LPs are the limited partners who invest in the fund, and the GP is the General Partner.
In addition to this, Sapphire is authorised to manage & operate Exempt Property/ Exempt Property Unit Trust ("EPUT") structure.
An indirect property investment means that the investor subscribes to shares in a company that, in turn, invests in properties. Through property funds, investors, therefore, have the opportunity to invest relatively small amounts in large-volume properties by way of professional fund companies.
Nothing waits for someone to remember.
Who Does What
The first question everyone asks is how much of this they have to run themselves. The straight answer is: not much.
1 Setup
We configure your fund, its terms, its fee structure and its reporting cycle before it opens, so the system is live from the first subscription.
2 Operation
Our team runs your fund's administration on the platform: onboarding, subscriptions, records, checking valuations and reporting.
3 Access
You and your investors log in and see the fund as it stands. Nothing to install, configure or maintain.
How it works
The second question everyone asks is what actually happens.
1 A conversation. Fifteen minutes to understand your fund, your investors and how you want to report.
2 Setup. We configure the fund, its terms and its reporting cycle before it opens.
3 Onboarding. Investors subscribe digitally and complete their checks as they go.
4 Deployment. Allocations and holdings are recorded as each investment completes.
5 Reporting. Statements and updates go out on your cycle, not ours.
6 Ongoing. We run your fund's administration on it for the life of the fund.
The platform goes live with your fund, so there is nothing separate to set up and nothing extra to wait for.
Funds using the system.
Nearly all the funds we manage now run on the same administration system, from a first SEIS fund with twenty investors to a GP/LP structure that draws down capital over several years.
Start with a conversation.
