 British Robotics   Seed Fund 2

Investing in UK-based robotics start-ups.

At a glance
  • Current status:                      Close (Mar-2018)
  • Fund type:                                                    SEIS
  • Investment goal:                      Capital growth
  • Focus:                    Robotics, AI, Automation
The British Robotics Sidecar Fund (the "Fund") seeks to back high-growth robotics, artificial intelligence and automation companies delivering large-scale productivity improvements through autonomous technologies at the intersection of the digital and physical world.

The last decade has seen global productivity fall, natural resources be depleted and skilled labour pools contract in the developed world, despite rising labour costs and consumption levels. Against this backdrop, Britbots believe that autonomous technologies will provide the principle avenue for companies to improve their productivity and profitability.

The Fund look for entrepreneurial teams building businesses with the potential for lucrative exits. Once the Fund has invested, each investee company will be mentored by High Growth Robotics Limited who will provide the investee company with an experienced, proven entrepreneur with a track record of creating a valuable high-tech business.

SEIS tax incentives
The companies the fund invest in are expected to be SEIS-qualifying, which makes British Robotics Seed Fund 2 SEIS suitable for qualifying clients who would potentially benefit from the following tax reliefs:
  • Up to 50% income tax relief
  • Tax-free investment growth
  • 50% capital gains tax exemption
  • Inheritance tax relief
  • Loss relief
Please note: SEIS tax reliefs are only made available to investors because of the higher risks associated with investing in early-stage companies. Also, the availability of tax reliefs will depend on the investor's individual circumstances, and may be subject to change in the future. In addition, the availability of any tax relief depends on the investee companies maintaining their qualifying status. See guides for further information.
