British Robotics Seed Fund 2

Investing in UK-based robotics start-ups.

What is the aim of this fund?

"The Fund seeks to invest in and provide support for UK based robotic start-ups."

Dominic Keen, High Growth Robotics Limited

The British Robotics Seed Fund 2 offers investors the opportunity of investing in potentially fast-growing robotics companies in the UK whilst significantly reducing the inherent risks involved in funding early-stage businesses. It does this by both: focusing investment solely on robotics businesses where investors are eligible to take advantage of the SEIS or EIS schemes; and also by spreading the investments made across a range of companies and sectors so that investors can benefit from a portfolio approach.

The Fund will focus on market-ready concepts that can start generating revenues within twelve months of the investment. Where possible, the Fund will look for the money invested by the Fund to be matched by a Local Enterprise Partnership or corporate investor so the Investee Company might have up to £300,000 of seed capital available for early-stage go-to-market activities. Investee robotics companies may often be sourced via informal partnerships with the pre-eminent robotics groups at British universities, some off which are listed below. The Investee Companies may either be direct spin-outs of the academic robotics groups or formed by people from those groups' past members.
