Creative UK (formerly Creative England) was launched in October 2011 as a government initiative and is now an independent company that invests in creative talent and businesses. Via the Fund, Creative UK seeks to assist Sapphire Capital Partners LLP to unlock the power of the creative economy by investing in early-stage creative and digital businesses. It will also help the businesses grow by providing mentoring and support.
  • Creative UK has been supporting and investing in creative and digital businesses for nearly five years, investing over circa £22m of public funds into digital, film, video games, TV and creative content companies and projects
  • Creative UK currently provides full “wrap around” support to the companies they have invested in - offering information, advocacy, inspiration and access to networks and high-profile marketing opportunities so that talented people and businesses can thrive and commercialise.
  • Creative UK seeks to build tough and transparent relationships with the businesses they have invested in, identifying what they are good at, and what they need help with.
SEIS & EIS tax incentives
The companies the fund invest in are expected to be SEIS-EIS-qualifying, which makes Creative England Investment Fund SEIS-EIS suitable for qualifying clients who would potentially benefit from the following tax reliefs:
  • Up to 30% income tax relief (50% for SEIS)
  • Tax-free Investment growth
  • Capital gains deferral (50% capital gains tax exemption for SEIS)
  • Inheritance Tax relief
  • Loss relief
Please note: SEIS-EIS tax reliefs are only made available to investors because of the higher risks associated with investing in early-stage companies. Also, the availability of tax reliefs will depend on the investor's individual circumstances, and may be subject to change in the future. In addition, the availability of any tax relief depends on the investee companies maintaining their qualifying status. See guides for further information.
