Boyd specialises in the incubation of venture capital funds, including GP/LP, SEIS, EIS and property funds.
His single ambition is helping those funds launch, grow and succeed. With over 30 years in financial services, Boyd has helped build Sapphire into a multi-award-winning investment firm managing micro-venture capital funds across technology, robotics, design, health and renewables.
Before co-founding Sapphire, Boyd spent 12 years at PwC's M&A due diligence practice in New York. He has also founded and exited a number of start-ups across eCommerce, property and renewables, giving him a founder's perspective alongside an investor's.
Boyd is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Chairman of a leading cancer charity. A Harvard University alumnus, he teaches on Harvard's graduate venture capital course and is an Honorary Professor of Practice in Venture Capital at Queen's University Belfast.
Outside work, his passions are family, fly fishing and running.
